Every Friday from April to September, the Waagplein square comes alive with cheese carriers in white outfits and straw hats, colorful stacks of cheese, and a lively atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to see the centuries-old cheese carriers’ guild in action.

The St. Lawrence Church is the proud centerpiece of Alkmaar. This impressive late-Gothic church from the 15th century is famous for its two magnificent organs and soaring vaults that create an almost magical atmosphere. An absolute highlight on your walk through the city!
